Building Yourself

Building a New Home, Addition or Remodeling yourself makes you the contractor and responsible for everything a General Contractor is responsible for. You are responsible for all workers and other insurances, permits, specifications, bank requirements, materials and ordering, scheduling and contracting Subcontractors and a lot more. Most banks will not lend money unless there is a contractor involved. For an owner/builder to borrow money you will probably have to prove your building experience to satisfy the lender. Some General Contractor will oversee projects which may allow you to become more involved and do some of the work yourself.
